Proceed With Caution 
Unfortunately, there are companies that target timeshare owners, who are in the resale market, by using fraudulent gimmicks for their own financial gain. Be particularly aware of companies that ask for an upfront fee, or to wire money for a sale to be completed. If you feel that you have been a victim of one of these scams, please contact your state's attorney general's office or if the need arises, your local law enforcement may be able to assist you.

The American Resort Development Association (ARDA) website responsibleexit.com has a dedicated section that provides resources to help you make an informed decision on exiting your timeshare. A step-by-step guide outlines the process, based on your unique situation. The site also provides visitors with frequently-asked questions that cover a broad range of topics.

The European Resort Owners’ Coalition (EUROC) also has a section that provides resources offering timeshare release advice. This organization is the official, independent, non-profit timeshare association that stands side by side with timeshare owners and committees from homeowner clubs (HOAs) and resorts around Europe and represents more than 60 resorts in the EU.
